Safer Neighbourhoods Stronger Communities

“Every Contact Leaves a Trace”

“Every Contact Leaves a Trace”

Good afternoon, I hope you are all having a decent week.

Just as in forensic science, where even the smallest details matter, interactions within our community also leave an impact. Whether a smile, a friendly chat with a neighbour, reporting suspicious activity, or participating in local events, each contact contributes to community safety.

We underestimate these simple acts, forgetting that we might be the only person that someone meets all day.  I recall a story from an elderly lady in a café she visited every day.  She explained how the girls who served her had “saved her life” by checking her house after she didn’t come to the café one day as expected. They found her collapsed with a serious medical condition – Now that’s community safety!

A positive communication boosts our wellbeing, they’re free, simple and everyone can do it. Connected communities are healthier, happier and safer places to live.

As an engagement officer with NHWS we are all over the place, during a recent visit to Rutherglen Shopping Centre we met Frank Conway.  Frank got involved in NHWS around 1997 and has been coordinating a neighbourhood watch with over 500 members ever since, that’s a truly outstanding contribution, well done Frank.

You are doing well with the “Sharing is Caring” Alert challenge, BUT we always want to do better at NHWS HQ and urge everyone to support one other person to sign up to ALERT, I’ll keep you posted on progress!!

Enjoy the rest of your week and weekend when it comes.
