Dear {FIRST_NAME},
You may have been aware of the news broadcast yesterday by Director General Ken McCallum, Head of MI5. DG McCallum doesn’t just lay out the range of threats to the UK, it makes clear how dramatically the job of protecting Britain has changed in recent years, particularly with the rise of state based terror activity.
Clearly there is no intention to raise fear, with the threat level remaining at substantial. This has to be balanced with the need for members of the public to be aware of the challenges to security and what they should do if they have concerns. To this end if anyone has seen or heard something that could potentially be related to terrorism, they should trust their instincts and report it. Their actions could save lives.
Guidance for the public on what they should do if they have concerns and who they should report matters to is available at the UK Government and Policing website Protect UK.
Please consider this information for sharing with your community.
Kind regards
Ian
