Water Safety Scotland's World Drowning Prevention Day

The team were also at Water Safety Scotland’s World Drowning Prevention Day at Loch Lomond Shores, Balloch on Friday 25 July. What a fabulous event with so many agencies showcasing how they are working hard to keep people in Scotland safe.

Amongst those there were, Water Safety Scotland, RoSPA, RNLI, Scottish Water, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, COSLA, Trossachs Search and Rescue, Wild Wimmin Swimmin, Scottish Swimming, Sea Cadets and The Scottish Newfoundland Club who carried out rescue demonstrations with their incredibly talented and gentle dogs.

Activities included kayaking, paddle boarding, face painting and there was plenty of scope for interactive learning on how to keep safe whilst in and around Scottish waterways.

A big thank you to everyone who took the time to chat with us today. Many people were interested to learn about the Neighbourhood Alert free information sharing system and a few expressed interest in setting up watches in their areas.

During the event we also shared information about the BT Digital Voice changeover.
And do you or someone you know use a telecare alarm? If so please visit: https://digitalphoneswitchover.com/telecare

It was also lovely to meet Siobhian Brown, Minister for Victims and Community Safety and Claire Baker MSP for Mid Scotland and Fife, who were really interested to hear more about the work NWS are currently doing and also about plans for the future.

Lastly, thank you so much to our partners at Water Safety Scotland for organising such a fantastic day and for allowing us to be a part of it.

We wish you all a very safe and lovely weekend.
