About 9 News 9 No Cold Calling Zones / Neighbourhood Watch Scotland Action Day – Edinburgh

Partnership Event

Earlier today, Neighbourhood Watch Scotland staff joined Trading Standards officers from the City of Edinburgh Council and Police Scotland in the Gracemount area to promote No Cold Calling Zones and raise awareness about Neighbourhood Watch Scotland.

We met many wonderful residents and shared the benefits of signing up for the free Neighbourhood Alert system. Some were already active in supporting their neighbours and expressed interest in starting a Neighbourhood Watch.

What is a No Cold Calling Zone?
A No Cold Calling Zone is an area in which a majority of residents have stated that they do not wish traders to call at their homes without being invited. Trading Standards sets up zones in Edinburgh, in partnership with Police Scotland, Neighbourhood Teams, the Sheltered Housing team and local residents. For further information go to http://www.edinburgh.gov.uk/nccz

A huge thank you to our partners at Trading Standards and Police Scotland Edinburgh Prevention, Intervention and Partnerships Department for inviting us along. It was a fantastic example of how effective partnership working can be.

Together, we’re building safer, more connected communities.
