Safer Neighbourhoods Stronger Communities

Caledonian Retail Park, Wishaw – Festive Community Safety event.

Earlier today Neighbourhood Watch Scotland (NWS), joined Police Scotland officers, North Lanarkshire Trading Standards and Community Alcohol Partnerships (CAP) staff at Caledonian Retail Park, Wishaw for a Festive Community Safety event.

The team highlighted the #16DaysOfActivism Against Gender-Based Violence Campaign and shared advice on personal safety, home security, scams, which was a concern for most people spoken to and Disclosure Scheme for Domestic Abuse Scotland (DSDAS). Remember you have the #righttoask. NWS staff and police colleagues also visited the various stores promoting Retail Watch to managers.
The weather, although cold stayed dry, and we managed to speak to a number of people about Neighbourhood Watch Scotland and highlight the benefits of communities getting involved in Neighbourhood Watches and signing up to Neighbourhood Alert. It was great to see the interest in Neighbourhood Alert and hear that some of the people we spoke with are already part of their local watch.
Thanks to all those who stopped to engage with us, including gorgeous assistance dog Fred (pictured) who is currently going through training with Oliver’s Army Assistance and therapy dogs.
