About 9 Alert 9 Your Community – Police Scotland Activity

Dear members.

My name is PC Peter Barker and I have seven years policing service, the entirety of which has been served in the Cowdenbeath area, in a variety of response and community policing roles.

During my time as a community policing officer in the Lochgelly, Cardenden and Cowdenbeath area’s I became aware of various hotspots for potential summer time disorder. I am now the Police Scotland youth volunteer group coordinator for the Dunfermline and Cowdenbeath area’s and on Wednesday 20th May 2026 between 1800 and 2000hrs, I took approximately 14 youth volunteers out in Lochgelly and delivered hundreds of neighbourhood watch leaflets in area’s previously highlighted for youth disorder in summer’s past, (in particular, residences near the public park). As a group we are always looking for both youth and adult volunteers strengthen our team numbers and are always on the look out for other ideas/ suggestions as to how our youth group could better serve our community.

I would like to hear from you in you live in this area please come and see me or contact me via peter.barker@scotland.police.uk

Thankyou and kind regards:

PC Peter Barker
