City Centre Initiative

Between 16th-20th December 2024 Perth Community Policing Team carried out hi-vis and plain clothes patrols within the city centre of Perth in response to complaints of anti-social behaviour, substance abuse and shopliftings.

The visual deterrent of officers in the city centre coupled with plain clothes patrols seemed to work very well in respect of a reduction of reported shopliftings.

Numerous outlets were visited over the course of the week and provided safety and crime prevention advice, all had a positive reaction to seeing police officers on patrol within the city centre.

Officers targeted anti-social behaviour within Perth City Centre, resulting in one male being issued an FPN for drinking alcohol in the street, further enquiry provided the same male had stolen the alcohol and threatened staff members within Marks and Spencer the previous day. He was reported to the Procurator Fiscal.

Further to that one male was arrested and charged for being concerned in the supply of controlled substances and two further males charged and reported to the Procurator Fiscal for possession of controlled substances.

One male was issued a recorded police warning for theft by shoplifting when traced in the city centre.

Update: Warrant Executed

A 64-year-old man has been arrested and charged following the recovery of drugs, cash and weapons from a property in the Tulloch area of Perth.

Officers executed a warrant at a property on Primrose Crescent around 5pm on Monday, 23 December.
Cocaine, herbal cannabis and cannabis resin with an estimated street value of £15,200 were recovered along with £47,200 in cash. Two prohibited weapons were also seized.

A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

Police Constable Arran Sheach said: “Drugs cause misery in our communities and we are determined to bring those responsible for the distribution of illegal substances to justice.”

Beaver Visit – Perth Police Station

Perth Community Policing Team were delighted when the 3rd Perthshire (Scone) Beavers paid a visit to Perth Police Station recently. The children asked lots of interesting questions and after volunteering to “rob a local bank” and spending a little time in the cells decided that they would rather join the Police when they grow up!
