About 9 News 9 University of Edinburgh Welcome Week

We were back today speaking to students and parents at Edinburgh University’s Welcome Week, where we joined our partners from Police Scotland Edinburgh Prevention, Intervention, and Partnerships and the University of Edinburgh Security Section.

During the event, we shared helpful information about Neighbourhood Watch Scotland (NWS) and the Neighbourhood Alert system, and provided free safety and security products to support students while out and about. These resources were designed to help students feel more prepared and confident as they navigate university life and explore the city. Our colleagues also offered useful information and advice on a range of important topics, including:

🚲 Bike security
🛡️ Personal safety
🚫 How to avoid scams
🚌 Using public transport
📞 How to contact Police Scotland when needed

It was a pleasure to connect with students, parents, and the dedicated university teams supporting them.

A big thank you to everyone who spoke with us, it was wonderful to see such strong interest in Neighbourhood Watch Scotland and the Neighbourhood Alert information system.
