Neighbourhood Watch Scotland in Gilmerton

Earlier today, the Neighbourhood Watch Scotland team joined Trading Standards officers from the City of Edinburgh Council and Police Scotland in the Gilmerton area to promote No Cold Calling Zones and raise awareness about Neighbourhood Watch Scotland.

We were delighted to meet many local residents, share the benefits of being part of Neighbourhood Watch and signing up for the free Neighbourhood Alert system, and hear from those already active in supporting their neighbours.

What is a No Cold Calling Zone?

A No Cold Calling Zone is an area where the majority of residents have agreed that they do not wish traders to call at their homes without being invited. These zones are set up in Edinburgh by Trading Standards, working in partnership with Police Scotland, Neighbourhood Teams, the Sheltered Housing team, and local residents.

A huge thank you to our partners at Trading Standards and Police Scotland Edinburgh Prevention, Intervention and Partnerships Department for inviting us along. This was a fantastic example of how effective partnership working can be in building safer communities.

Together, we’re building safer, stronger, and more connected communities.
