We had a fantastic day yesterday attending Garnock Valley Carves in Dalry, Ayrshire, a brilliant celebration of creativity, community spirit, volunteering and everything that makes our local communities so special.
From the incredible chainsaw carving to the fantastic stalls, activities and community groups, there was something for everyone. It was wonderful to see so many people coming together. Even better, profits from the event go directly towards supporting local community projects, helping to build a stronger and more vibrant Garnock Valley. 
YOUNG PEOPLE MAKING A DIFFERENCEOne of the things that really stood out to us during the day was seeing the fantastic community work being carried out by some of the local young people. We heard about one amazing young person who, at just 13 years old, decided to tidy up the local graveyard, including cutting the grass. What an incredible example of community spirit and taking pride in your local area. 
We also had the privilege of meeting some of the Police Scotland Youth Volunteers (PSYV), who along with their coordinator were doing a fantastic job supporting the organisers and helping to make the event a safe, welcoming and enjoyable experience for visitors. A huge thank you to all of the volunteers for their hard work and support throughout the day. It was brilliant to see young people giving their time, developing skills and making a positive contribution to their community.

A SPECIAL MENTION FOR NORRIE & ROSEWe also want to give a very special shoutout to Norrie and Rose from Beith Neighbourhood Watch. Norrie, the coordinator, and Rose were instrumental in getting this fantastic community event started in Beith, and it was lovely to hear more about the history and the work that goes into making Garnock Valley Carves such a special occasion.

THANK YOU TO THE ORGANISERSA huge thank you to the organisers for inviting us and making us feel so welcome on the day. We really appreciated the warm welcome and all the hard work that goes on behind the scenes to make an event like this possible.
A special thank you also to the wonderful volunteer who coordinated the stalls and provided invaluable support before and during the event. Your warm welcome and friendly smile were one of the first things we saw when we arrived and were greatly appreciated! 
A MASSIVE SHOUTOUT TO CAFÉ SOLACE! A huge thank you to the amazing volunteers from Café Solace, Kilbirnie, who supported the event by providing breakfast, tea and coffee for the carvers and stewards.
Week in and week out, the Café Solace team do a fantastic job supporting their local community. Their kindness and dedication are truly inspiring.
AND THEN THERE WAS AOIFE! Amongst all the amazing people and activities, we also had the pleasure of meeting Aoife, a wonderful Irish Wolfhound! 
Aoife has quite a few roles and, over the festive period, they even dress up as a reindeer and help pull a festive sleigh, assisting Santa Claus in visiting children and adults at charity events.

We were delighted to meet so many people throughout the day. It was wonderful to see the interest in Neighbourhood Watch and Neighbourhood Alert, our free community messaging service delivering information and updates from trusted partners directly to local communities.
