Safer Neighbourhoods Stronger Communities

Garnock Valley Carves – Beith, North Ayrshire

On Saturday 7th September we teamed up with members of Beith Orr Park Neighbourhood Watch at the Garnock Valley Carves at Beith, North Ayrshire, which showcased spectacular chainsaw wood carvings, drawing great numbers to the event.

The sun was shining, and it was great to see so many organisations and community groups attending, including North Ayrshire Council, who were raising awareness of the Equal’s cycle project, handing out pedal cycles, that had been refurbished to roadworthy condition to members of the community at no cost, and Garnick Valley Men shed, who provide free workshop space and a variety of projects in a sociable, friendly environment, encouraging men to engage with each other and the wider community in an inclusive and safe environment.

There were also great activities for children, including face painting, storytelling, crafts, and inflatables.

First Aid was provided by volunteer members of Coast Watch, including Kaye, station manager based at Irvine Beach. It was interesting hearing about some of the phenomenal work that they do 365 days of the year to help keep people safe. What a team.

A huge thank you to the event organiser and Chair of Beith Orr Park Neighbourhood Watch Norrie Brown, Rose, and the volunteers for their warm welcome and support on the day, who through their passion to help the community, motivation, and hard work made this a fantastic family event, enjoyed by all those who attended. Thank you also to everyone who stopped to speak with us.
