🎆 Fireworks Safety CampaignÂ
As Bonfire Night approaches, the Scottish Government and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service have launched a national campaign to highlight the dangers of fireworks misuse and the laws in place to help keep everyone safe.
While fireworks can be enjoyable, they pose serious risks if not handled properly. During the bonfire season, most firework-related injuries treated in emergency departments occur at informal private displays and over half of those injured are children.
This campaign aims to:
- Raise awareness of fireworks safety guidance
- Promote understanding of the laws around fireworks use
- Encourage the public to be considerate of others this Bonfire Night
🔥 Key Rules and Guidance:
- It is illegal to buy or give a firework to anyone under the age of 18 with the exception of category F1 fireworks.
- It is illegal to set fireworks off before 6pm and after 11pm. This extends to midnight on 5Â November and 1am on Hogmanay, Chinese New Year and Diwali.
- It is illegal to use fireworks in public places including streets and parks.
- It is illegal to set off fireworks in a Firework Control Zone including on private property, other than category F1 fireworks like sparklers
