Safer Neighbourhoods Stronger Communities

Doors Open Day event at the Museum of Scottish Fire Heritage & McDonald Road Community Fire Station, Edinburgh

Neighbourhood Watch Scotland had a fantastic time at the Doors Open Day event at the Museum of Scottish Fire Heritage & McDonald Road Community Fire Station, Edinburgh today.

A huge thanks to our partners at Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) who invited us along and to the 2500 members of the public who attended.

The weather stayed dry, and we managed to speak to a number of people about Neighbourhood Watch Scotland and highlight the benefits of communities getting involved in Neighbourhood Watch Scotland Schemes and signing up to Neighbourhood Alert. It was great to hear that some of the people we spoke with are already part of their local watch.

It was also a good opportunity to see some of different appliances and take a tour around the museum and see the changes throughout the years.

Did you know the world’s first public and local authority funded Fire Service was established in the city of Edinburgh in 1824? If you want to find out more information the Museum of Scottish Fire Heritage is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10am to 4pm. Museum of Scottish Fire Heritage
