About 9 Alert 9 Van Security

Hi Everyone,

If you or anyone you know uses a van, please read on…

Van locks can be vulnerable to attack by drills, angle grinders or jemmies but can be protected by fitting upgraded slam locks, dead locks and loom guards to prevent doors being peeled back.

The attached Secured By Design leaflet provides general security advice.

The Sold Secured website – www.soldsecure.com – provides information on Diamond rated security products, including locks, design specifically for vans and tested against angle grinders and drills.

Police Scotland would always recommend that tools are removed from vehicles at night. Additional security options would be to store them within locked boxes, (fitted to the van) such as a Van Vault (see Sold Secure), record all serial numbers and mark the tools in such a way that they be identified including via formal forensic property marking (Selecta DNA).

Several companies produce CCTV cameras that can be fitted within vans which will alert owners if movement is detected within.

If you see anyone acting suspiciously near to your property, please contact the police immediately with as detailed a description as possible of the person and any vehicle.

In an emergency phone 999 or 101 to report the matter to the police.

Kind Regards
