Theft Of Cooking Oil

About 1am on Tuesday 8 July 2025, a Ford Transit or similar styled van, silver/grey in colour, was seen on Greenock Road Largs, where it briefly parked up on the main street.  

The vehicle was shortly thereafter seen to drive to the back of a nearby hotel, where two males alighted and stole a quantity of stored cooking oil, placing them into blue buckets.  Both males were described as having dark hair and dark clothing.

Used or stored cooking oil is an increasing theft – often stolen with the intent to convert into unregulated biodiesel for profit.  Anyone who witnessed anything of evidential value pertinent to this incident, or who perhaps was in the area and captured dashcam footage, is asked to call Largs Police Office on 101 – reference CR/0282387/25.
