About 9 Alert 9 South Perthshire Community Policing – May 2026

Hello all,

I’m PC Ali Bloomer, one of your community Police Officers in South Perthshire, based at Crieff Police Station. I’ve recently taken on the role as a community officer having worked as a local response officer in Crieff and Auchterarder for the last few years.

I work with my colleague PC Pauline Smart who has been in her role as a local community officer for around a year having also been a locally based response officer prior to that.

We are primarily responsible for St Fillans, Comrie, Crieff, Methven and surrounding areas. We also support our colleagues throughout South Perthshire. Our role sees us take the lead with community engagement, schools, anti-social behaviour and targeting high tariff offenders while also responding to immediate grade calls to Police.

You may have seen that this year Police Scotland has introduced a new Policing model, with a greater emphasis on local community policing. This new model will see local officers engage with the community more and will allow us to better understand what the community are concerned about.

As part of this drive, I thought I’d take the opportunity to introduce ourselves and explain what our plans are. My priorities are to continue to engage with schools, to be a visible presence on foot, to police road traffic hotspots and to directly target high tariff offenders. I’m keen to hear from the community on what you think are the priority issues.

We aim to bring regular updates to you about what your local officers are doing and have therefore provided a monthly update for May. Some of our activities are posted on “Police Scotland Tayside” social media accounts and we also provide reports to our community councils to include in their meetings to cover incidents of note and Police activity.

Here’s a brief run down of what we have been up to this month:

  • Regular foot patrols in Crieff, Comrie and Methven to improve visibility and engagement
  • Vehicle patrols targeting areas of known anti-social behaviour and road traffic hotspots throughout South Perthshire
