About 9 Alert 9 Sheep Worrying near Lairg

Police officers in Sutherland are appealing for information following a report of sheep worrying which resulted in the death of a lamb and a ewe.

On Saturday, 3 May, we were called to the Gruids / Achany area, south of Lairg after the animals had been found. Another lamb was seriously injured.

Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact 101 quoting reference CR/0181505/25.

These are distressing incidents for all involved and there is legislation in place to protect livestock from dog attacks.

It is a dog owner’s responsibility to ensure their dog is on a lead and under control at all times when livestock is present.

The damage and distress caused not just to the animals, but the farming business is considerable.
