Free Online Training For Coordinators – Active Bystander – Thursday 7th May 2026 – 1830 -2030hrs

Dear {FIRST_NAME}

You are warmly invited to attend our third Active Bystander Training Session

What is Active Bystander Training?

What do we do when we see a situation that concerns us, but we are scared to get involved? What if I make things worse? What if I’ve got it wrong? I don’t want to become responsible for what happens next! or I just don’t feel confident to get involved.  All very valid and sensible reactions, however how does a victim feel if we just walk past and ignore their plight? How would we want others to react if that was a member of our family, or a friend?

Active Bystander Training helps Neighbourhood Watch coordinators recognise and respond to concerning behaviour that could impact community safety. The training builds knowledge & confidence to intervene safely and defuse problematic situations— whether by offering direct support, creating a distraction, or seeking help from appropriate authorities. The session highlights the ethos of Active Bystander and teaches attendees how to assess risks & concerns, and how to choose practical intervention strategies that protect themselves and others. Ultimately, the training strengthens neighbourhood resilience and reinforces a shared commitment to safety and respect.

This free online session via Microsoft Teams will equip you with practical skills to:

·  Recognise and challenge inappropriate behaviour safely and effectively.

·  Build confidence in speaking up and supporting others.

.  Support you in your daily role

·  Strengthen community resilience by promoting respect and accountability.

.  Build on your personal development

.  Provide an opportunity to network with other coordinators and learn from each others experiences.
