About 9 Alert 9 National Rural Crime Update

Police Scotland has recently become aware of a new method of targeting windfarms in the UK.

The offenders appear to have developed the skill and knowledge on how to isolate the turbines with the electricity supply being isolated firstly to eliminate the risk of electrocution. The copper cabling is then cut and removed on site.

They are willing to travel, using a combination of vehicles, often travelling in convoy.

It is suspected the cabling is then transported and later sold.

Please report any suspicious activity in and around windfarm installations in your area
