About 9 Alert 9 Rural Watch Update – 13/08/2026

Hello all,

I hope you’re all keeping the best and enjoying this unexpected warm spell we’re having! I’m sure there will be a quite a few exhausted parents, grandparents and carers who are relieved to have the kids back at school this week! Congratulations you have survived another summer holidays!

Apologies for my early email, I am on a training course from tomorrow and wanted to make sure you got my email before I go.

Thank you very much to those who attended the home security evenings I provided in partnership with Neighbourhood Watch Scotland, across West Lothian. It was a pleasure to have the opportunity to speak with so many lovely people who are passionate about community safety.

For those who where unable to attend, we are looking to offer the information evenings online via Microsoft Teams. It will be Neighbourhood watch who facilitate the invitations and myself providing the information. Keep an eye out for their weekly emails and Facebook page for further information. Once I have dates etc, I will let you all know.

  • Several pieces of horse tack were stolen from an unlocked storage unit including saddles, bridles, girths and grooming equipment. Unfortunately, the field was not covered by CCTV.
  • A quad and a Stihl chainsaw was stolen from an unlocked shed on a farm during the early hours of the morning. Although the suspect vehicle was not observed, the owner believed the vehicle to sound like a diesel vehicle. Since this was reported to the Police, the quad has been found and returned to the owner. The chainsaw remains outstanding. Unfortunately, no CCTV on the premises and no witnesses currently.
  • A further house breaking occurred on a farm where the workshop doors were forced open, the quadbike and power tools stolen within have been stolen and remain outstanding. The quadbike is a Honda TRX 520cc and the DeWalt battery powered drill, grinder and impact gun where taken. The quadbike was fitted with a tracker which showed the location to be in Northumberland and then lost. There is CCTV at the property, but it does not have believed to have captured the theft. If you have any further information that can assist with this enquiry, please contact Police or Crimestoppers anonymously.
