Police Scotland are investigating an attempted theft of horsebox that occurred in the Aberchirder area during the evening of Friday 8th May 2026.
A local resident became aware of an unknown male attempting to hitch a horsebox belonging to the resident onto a blue and silver Suzuki Vitara parked nearby.
When challenged, the unknown male got into the Suzuki and drove off in the direction of Turriff on the B9025.
The Suzuki collided with a gate as it left and suffered slight damage to the rear right wheel arch as a result.
The registration of the Suzuki is beliveed to have the partial plate SC55 T.
This incident occurred near to a residential property during daylight hours and appears to be a brazen attempt to steal another’s property.
Police Scotland are appealing for anyone who have seen the Suzuki that evening or in the following days or may have any information to share regarding this contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting 3251 of 8th May 2026
It is also requested that local residents, farmers and owners of trailers, plant or machinery are extra vigilant and ensure all property is secured as best as possible.’
