The following Alert is being circulated on behalf of SGN
We’ll shortly begin work to upgrade our gas network within the Bonaly Road area of Edinburgh.
This essential work involves replacing of 400m of metallic gas mains with new plastic pipe in the Bonaly Road area of Edinburgh, ensuring a continued safe and reliable gas supply to the local community. It will also ensure our network is ready for green sources of energy, such as hydrogen, in future.
We’ve planned our work in close consultation with the local authorities to reduce disruption as much as possible. Our project will begin on Monday 3 July and will take approximately 13 weeks to complete. This work has been planned for during the school holidays.
During works local parking restrictions will be in place to allow our teams safe access to our existing pipes. Some local road and footway closures will also be in place and local diversion routes will be in operation during this time.
Temporary road signals will be in use for the first two weeks of the project and these will likely cause delays during busy peak periods.
The following restrictions will be in place:
Road closures:
Bonaly Road between Woodhall Road and Bonaly Avenue.Grant Avenue junction with Bonaly Road.West Carnethy Avenue junction with Bonaly Road.Munro Drive with Bonaly Road.
We will be required to suspend on street parking to ensure we gain safe access to our pipes. Access will be given to driveways and entrance gates at all times unless previously agreed with the occupier. As works will be carried out on a phased basis not all restrictions will be in place at the same time.
Parking suspensions:
Bonaly Road – both sides.
Emergency vehicle access will be maintained throughout our works.
Our colleagues will be keeping to social distancing guidelines on our sites, and we’d ask communities to keep their distance too.
We’ve written to residents and other local stakeholders to make them aware of our project and explain the details of our work. Please feel free to also share this information with anyone you think may be impacted by our project.
If you have any specific enquiries about this project, please call us on 0800 912 1700 and our customer experience team will be happy to help.
