Notification of essential gas works: Slamannan Road area, Falkirk

The following message is being circulated on behalf of SGN

We’ll shortly begin work to upgrade our gas network within the Slamannan area of Falkirk.

This essential work involves replacing of 900m of metallic gas mains with new plastic pipe in the Slamannan area of Falkirk, ensuring a continued safe and reliable gas supply to the local community. It will also ensure our network is ready for green sources of energy, such as hydrogen, in future.

We’ve planned our work in close consultation with the local authorities to reduce disruption as much as possible. Our project will begin on Monday 3 April and will be carried out by our contractor George Ritchie Utilities on our behalf and will take approximately eight weeks to complete.

During this project temporary road and footway restrictions will be in operation including, road closures, footway closures, parking restrictions as well as the use of temporary signals. These may cause delays during peak periods. Not all streets will be affected at once as works will be carried out on a phased basis.

The following restrictions will be in place:

Road closures:

Blairdenen Crescent junction Slamannan Road
Lochgreen Road junction Slamannan Road (east bound only) – diversion route through Hillcrest Road
No right turn west bound Slamannan Road into Glen Gardens – diversion route roundabout – Slamannan Road

Footpath closures:

Glen Brae – outside number 31 to outside number 1

Parking suspensions:

Craighorn Drive
Myreton Way
Mellock Gardens
Drummond Street
Dumyat Drive
Blairdenon Crescent
Lochgreen Road
Hillhead Drive
Slamannan Road,
Albert Road
High Station Road
Glen Gardens
Glen Brae

Access will be given to driveways and entrance gates at all times unless previously agreed with the occupier.

Emergency vehicle access will be maintained throughout our works.

Our colleagues will be keeping to social distancing guidelines on our sites, and we’d ask communities to keep their distance too.

We’ve written to residents and other local stakeholders to make them aware of our project and explain the details of our work. Please feel free to also share this information with anyone you think may be impacted by our project.
