The following Alert is being circulated on behalf of SGN
We’re investing £740,000 to upgrade our gas network in the Lanark Road West area, to ensure a continued safe and reliable gas supply for many years to come.
We’re carrying out this essential upgrade work now as a permanent solution to the recent emergency work we’ve carried out in this section of the road, to prevent future disruption to motorists and the local community.
In agreement with the City of Edinburgh Council, our project will start on 1 July 2023, and will and last approximately 6 months.
So we can give you more information about our work and answer any questions you have, we’re holding a drop-in session at Gibson Craig Hall, 156 Lanark Road West, on Tuesday 13 June. Please come in to speak with us any time between 4.30pm-7.30pm.
We’re carrying out our work in two phases to reduce disruption to the local community as much as possible.
Phase one of our project in Lanark Road West will begin at its junction with Station Loan and continue to its junction with Stewart Road. Stewart Road will be closed at its junction with Lanark Road West.
The first section of phase two will be carried out between Dolphin Avenue and Curriehill Road.
During the second section, we’ll be working from near to the Sainsbury’s petrol station to the junction with Juniperlee. Muirwood Road and Juniper Avenue will be closed at the junctions with Lanark Road West.
Temporary traffic lights will be in place for the duration of our work to ensure continued traffic flow.
Emergency vehicle access will be maintained throughout our works.
Our colleagues will be keeping to social distancing guidelines on our sites, and we’d ask communities to keep their distance too.
We’re writing to residents to make them aware of our project and explain the details of our work. Please feel free to also share this information with anyone you think may be impacted by our project.
