H100 Fife Project – Construction of hydrogen network

H100 Fife Project – Construction of hydrogen network

The following Alert is being circulated on behalf of SGN

SGN manages the network that distributes natural and green gas to 5.9 million homes and businesses across Scotland and the south of England. We also provide the gas emergency service in these areas.

We’re in Buckhaven and Denbeath to begin our pioneering H100 Fife project to move away from carbon-emitting natural gas to green hydrogen gas which doesn’t produce any carbon when it’s burned.

I’m writing to inform you that following discussions with Fife Council, the installation of our new hydrogen pipeline will start on 1 May 2023, with some enabling works commencing 27 April.

Our project will last approximately 15 months, with the connection of up to 300 customers onto our new network starting from September 2024.

We’ve split the project into five phases to minimise disruption as much as possible – please see details in attached leaflet.

During each phase of our work, it may be necessary to implement road closures and use temporary traffic lights at times. We’ll give you as much advance notice of this as possible, and we’ll also be keeping local residents and businesses informed when we are working in their area (see attached sample letter).

Ahead of construction commencing, we’ll be hosting a public information event for you to come along and find out more about the project, our network construction works and meet the project team. Details below:

Date: Wednesday 19 April

Venue: Wellesley Centre, Wellesley Parish Church, 331 Wellesley Road, Methil, Leven, KY8 3BT

Times: 15:30 – 19:00

I’ll be providing you with regular updates by email, however if you wish to be removed from this database, or you are not the appropriate person to receive these, please notify me at margaret.hamilton@sgn.co.uk

We’ll also be posting regular updates on our website here: https://www.h100fife.co.uk/levenmouth-h100-fife-hydrogen-network/ and using social media and traffic bulletins to keep residents and motorists informed.
