This Message is Distributed on behalf of SGNDear {FIRST_NAME},I’m writing to let you know our plans to carry out two mains replacement projects investing approx £170,000 in Nairn to ensure the local community continues to receive a safe and reliable gas supply for many years to come.KING STREET, NAIRN (A96)Starting on 9 January 2023 for around 12 weeks our engineers will be working to replace approximately 140m of old metallic gas main with new polyethylene PE pipe. To minimise disruption, we’ve worked closely with Highland Council and Amey to plan any necessary traffic management. As the A96 main trunk road between Aberdeen and Inverness we know this is a very busy road and will be implementing a phased approach outlined below.Phase 1: 9 January 2023 – approx. seven weeks Work will begin on King Street, Nairn opposite Viewfield Drive to just before Claymore Gardens. During this section we are able to maintain two-way traffic by utilising the filter lane. There will also be no right turn from King Street onto Falconers Lane, Library Car Park. Traffic will be diverted down to the roundabout and back along the A96 westward. There will be no right turn from Viewfield Drive onto King Street. Traffic will be diverted down to the roundabout and back along the A96 westward. There will also be no right turn from Library Car Park, Court House Lane and Fairlie Lane. Traffic exiting these junctions wishing to travel east will need to turn left and divert down Waverley Road – Westbury, turn left onto the B9090 and turn right at the traffic lights on Leopold Street.Phase 2: 27 February 2023 – approx. five weeksDuring this phase we will be working from the entrance to the car park to Royal Walk. We will need to use temporary traffic lights on this section. There are turning restrictions in addition to those above in this phase:There will be no right turn from Claymore Gardens, Bath Street, Crescent Road onto King Street. Traffic will be diverted left to the roundabout and back along the A96 westward. There will be no right turn onto Gordon Street and Royal Walk from King Street eastbound. All traffic will be diverted to the roundabout and back along the A96 westward. There will be no right turn from Douglas Street, Albermarle Place, Royal Walk. Traffic exiting these junctions wishing to travel east will need to turn left and divert down Waverley Rd – Westbury – turn left onto B9090 and turn right at the traffic lights on Leopold Street to travel eastward on the A96.We wish to assure you that our work will progress as quickly as possible and we’ll be doing everything we can to limit delays and disruption and to ensure the project remains on schedule, working extended hours from 8am to 7pm and at weekends as required. Access will be maintained for emergency vehicles and we’ll ensure that temporary traffic lights will be manually controlled if necessary during peak periods. In addition we will have a dedicated project page on our website and information on social media. We’re writing to residents and other local stakeholders to make them aware of our project and explain the details of our work. Please feel free to also share this information with anyone you think may be impacted by our project.HARBOUR STREET, NAIRNIn addition to the above, and to minimise overall disruption, we’re also carrying out work on Harbour Street in Nairn simultaneously. During this 12 week project we do not anticipate the need for any traffic management other than ‘give and take’ and it will not impact on the King Street project. This approx £81,000 project is to lay approximately 100m of new gas mains to facilitate the relocation of the District Governor at a later date.If you have any queries please don’t hesitate to contact me or our Customer Service Centre on 0800 912 1700 or email customer@sgn.co.uk .
