About 9 Alert 9 National Rural Crime Update – Suspicious Use of Drones

Suspicious Use of Drones

Please be aware of a recent trend that has been identified by Police Scotland where drones have been used to conduct surveillance of remote sites such as farms with a view to identifying articles to steal. A number of thefts have then taken place. These include a quad bike and a horse saddle.

A recent trend has also seen the use of drones with thermal imaging flown at night for the same reason.

If you hear drone or if you see a drone over an area and you think it is suspicious please report it to Police immediately either via the telephone number 101 or by using the Police Scotland contact-us web form which can be found at Contact Us form | Police Scotland

If you think a crime is in progress, always dial 999 immediately or when safe to do so.
