Good afternoon,

It is fair to say in the last week or so the weather has taken a cold turn, yet our local area remains popular with walkers and munro climbers.

I just wanted to share some useful information with you all to help keep us all safe over the winter months.

For example today (16/11) the temperature in Crianlarich is 4 degrees Celsius and at the cloud base (600m) it is between -6 and -10 degrees.

Please find attached some safety information

Be properly prepared, carry spare food and winter clothing.

Let someone know where you are going.

Check mountain rescue weather forecast

Carry an OS map and a compass and know how to use them – Mobile phones do not last long in freezing temperatures.

Know your limitations to wet wind and cold exposure

Carry a torch and whistle: Learn universal distress calls.

If using a mobile phone download what 3 words.

If in an emergency call 999 for police and mountain rescue. Provide what 3 words or grid reference if able.
