SHEEP ATTACK – WITNESS APPEAL

Police are looking for witnesses to a sheep worrying incident at Parkhead Bridge of Allan on 4th January 2026. Whilst checking his sheep a local famer observed one of his ewes had been attacked and the injuries sustained were both ears of the ewe had been removed.

If you have observed a dog chasing/attacking the sheep please contact the police on 101 ref  CR/0006906/26

Sheep Worrying is an offence in Scotland. Under the Dogs (Protection of Livestock) Act 1953, if a dog worries sheep on agricultural land, the person in charge of the dog is guilty of an offence.

Police Scotland have received an alarming number of reports of livestock attack by dogs over the past few weeks, either by unaccompanied dogs or those being walked “off lead”. We are entering a particularly vulnerable time of year for sheep flocks with heavily pregnant ewes on the farms.

💚
✔️

Keep your dog under control

Use a lead or make sure they have solid recall—especially around people, livestock, and wildlife.

💩

Always clean up after your dog

Bag it and bin it properly. If there’s no bin nearby, take it home with you.

🤝

Respect others

Not everyone loves dogs. Manage your dog calmly around other walkers, children, cyclists, and animals.

🐑

Protect wildlife & livestock

Keep dogs on leads in sensitive areas and during nesting or lambing seasons. Never let them chase farm animals or birds.

👀

Stay aware of your surroundings

Watch for traffic, changing weather, and hazards. Reflective gear helps keep you both visible in low light.

A little care goes a long way — for your dog, other people, and the environment
